Tourney format:

There shall be both a Rattan and Rapier Tournament with identical rules.  Members of the Chivalry may not fight in the rattan tournament.  Master of Defense may not fight in the rapier tournament.

There will be two (2) panels for both tournaments as described below:  The First Panel will be composed of the Martial Peers at the event, Chivalry for rattan and MODs for the rapier tournament.  The second panel will be composed of Non-Martial Peers - Pelicans, Laurels, and Members of the Rose attending the event.  The Non-Martial Peers will inform the List Officers which tournament they want to be on panel for, rattan or rapier.

These Panels shall observe each round of their respective tournaments to promote worthy combatants to the next round who are not the top two of their pool.

Round one – Round Robin:  Randomly choose the list you will be fighting in.  There will be a total of four (4) pools.  Double kills will count as lost for both combatants and will not be refought.  At the end of the round the top two combatants with the best records from each pool shall be promoted out of the list.  Additionally, a plurality vote by each panel will promote a single combatant from each pool.  So, there will be a total of 16 combatants promoted from the first round.  Promoted combatants from the first round are automatically in Round Three but may choose fight in Round Two or wait until Round Three.

Round two – Those who did not get promoted in Round One may fight in Round Two to continue in the tournament.  The format is the same as Round One, however, only a single combatant with the best record from each list will be promoted.  Additionally, a plurality vote by each panel will promote a single combatant from each pool.  So, there will be a total of 12 combatants promoted from the first round.

Round Three – Round Robin:  There will be a total of four (4) pools, each with seven (7) combatants.  At the end of the round, the top two combatants with the best records from each pool shall progress out of the list.  Additionally, a plurality vote by each panel will promote a single combatant from each pool.  So, there will be a total of 16 combatants promoted to Round Four.

Round Four:  A double elimination tournament with 2 out of 3 passes.  Combatants must change weapons forms between each pass.  Opponents do not have to match.  You must use the same weapons form in passes 1 and 3.  The combatants must use a different weapons form in pass 2.  Double kills will count as lost to both fighters and will not be refought.

Round Five:  The Final 4 Way – the top 4 fighters will fight a round robin.  Double kills count and will not be refought.  Bring your best.

FINAL ROUND:  The top two fighters with the best records from Round Five will fight best of 5 weapon rotation includes spear.  Each fighter chooses their own weapons form for each pass and opponents do not have to match.  If they don’t have all 5 weapons forms, then the combatant must rotate through all of them.

***Rapier Rule:  No cut and thrust.  Reduced armor will be allowed within East Kingdom Laws and Regulation, (finals only) Double kills will be refought until there is a clear winner.
